Animal print seems here to stay as it makes a reappearance each season across clothing, accessories and footwear ranges. The pattern is also a firm favourite of many sneaker fans, whether it’s expressed through subtle detailing or a full-on takeover.

For Consortium SS13, adidas Originals has been experimenting with different techniques that allude to the pattern in an eye-catching way for the Water Colour Animal Print (WCAP) that caters to those who love a bold pattern. Taking this to the next level, adidas has used a technique of painting on fabric by hand to create a design that looks wild cat-like from a distance, but up close is an amalgamation of watercolour splatters. The execution has been used on canvas for the Matchplay and Strider models, while the Tech Super model utilises a stretch mesh with the same effect. Although the prints are subdued in colour, they are certainly dynamic; additionally, all three shoes feature a dash of colour that pushes it to eye-catching limits.
